Metaphysical poetry
The term Metaphysical poets was coined by the critic Samuel Johnson to describe a group of 17th-century English poets whose work was characterised by the use of conveits and by a greater emphasis on the spoken rather than lyrical quality of their verse. These poets were not formally affiliated and few were highly regarded until 20th century attention established their importance.
Characteristics of metaphysical poetry
(1.)The poet Abraham Cowley, in whose biography Samuel Johnson first named and described Metaphysical poetry.
( 2.) The diversity of style among poets was magnificent as compared to others.
( 3.) Tme poets of the meta physical era were known as Baroque poets.
(4.) Once the Metaphysical style was established, however, it was occasionally adopted by other and especially younger poets to fit appropriate.
As of by the study of these immense qualitative poetry which are also included in our syllabus i personally came to know about the effectiveness of the nature of the poem and its hard core
